Developments in Meteorology

 Meteorology

Scientific Federation is going to conduct a conference on Earth Science & Geo Science at Amsterdam, Netherlands on August 13-14, 2018. Meteorology is one of session where presentations can be done at Summit.

Meteorology is the study of the atmosphere, atmospheric phenomena, and atmospheric effects on our weather. The atmosphere is the gaseous layer of the physical environment that surrounds a planet. Earth’s atmosphere is roughly 100 to 125 kilometers (65-75 miles) thick. Gravity keeps the atmosphere from expanding much farther. Meteorology focuses on the lower parts of the atmosphere, primarily the troposphere, where most weather takes place.

Meteorologists use scientific principles to observe, explain, and forecast our weather. They often focus on atmospheric research or operational weather forecasting. Research meteorologists cover several sub disciplines of meteorology to include: climate modeling, remote sensing, air quality, atmospheric physics, and climate change. They also research the relationship between the atmosphere and Earth’s climates, oceans, and biological life.

The development of meteorology is deeply connected to developments in science, math, and technology. The Greek philosopher Aristotle wrote the first major study of the atmosphere around 340 BCE. Many of Aristotle’s ideas were incorrect, however, because he did not believe it was necessary to make scientific observations. The latest news of Meteorology is fighting plant disease at warm temperatures keeps food on the table. An issue of global concern is the anticipated shortage of agricultural output to meet the steady rise in human population. Michigan State University scientists understand that overcoming crop loss due to disease and adverse weather will be key in achieving this goal.

Dr. Jieying HE, Dr. Bouya DIOP, and Mr. Ulric Lyons are presenting oral presentation on Meteorology.

The impact of internal changes in meteorology on the local and global growth rates of atmospheric methane is assessed in a nineteen year simulation using a tropospheric chemical transport model forced by ECMWF meteorological analyses from 1980 to 1998. A very simple CH4 chemistry scheme has been implemented, using prescribed OH fields. There are no internal variations in modeled methane emissions or in the OH fields, so any changes in the modeled growth rate arise from changes in meteorology. The methane simulation shows significant internal variability at both local and global scales. The local scale variability is comparable in magnitude to the internal variability found in surface observations and shows some clear correlation with observed changes in growth rates. This suggests that, even over internal timescales, meteorology could be important in driving the internal fluctuations of atmospheric methane at the surface.

We would like to formally invite you to be a participant in the upcoming “International Congress & Expo on Earth Science & Geo Science”. Theme of the conference is focused on Stimulating and Analyzing the Changes of Earth & Climate, the conference will analyze the recent advancements and new modes that can be enforced to the research to take Earth Science & Geo Science, one step further.

Remote Sensing

Remote Sensing

 Remote Sensing

Remote Sensing is the process of detecting and monitoring the physical characteristics of an area by measuring its reflected and emitted radiation at a distance from the targeted area. Special cameras collect remotely sensed images of the Earth, which help researchers "sense" things about the Earth. Some examples are Cameras on satellites and airplanes take images of large areas on the Earth's surface, allowing us to see much more than we can stand on the ground. Sonar systems on ships can be used to create images of the ocean floor without needing to travel to the bottom of the ocean. Cameras on satellites can be used to make images of temperature changes in the oceans.

Remote sensors collect data by detecting the energy that is reflected from Earth. These sensors can be on satellites or mounted on aircraft. Remote sensors can be either passive or active. Passive sensors respond to external stimuli. They record natural energy that is reflected or emitted from the Earth's surface. The most common source of radiation detected by passive sensors is reflected sunlight. In contrast, active sensors use internal stimuli to collect data about Earth. For example, a laser-beam remote sensing system projects a laser onto the surface of Earth and measures the time that it takes for the laser to reflect back to its sensor.

Dr. Md. Altaf Hossain is is presenting oral Presentation on Remote Sensing & GIS Applications in Earth Sciences.
Mrs. Yelena Gambarova is presenting Poster Presentation on Remote Sensing & GIS Applications in Earth Sciences.

Remote Sensing applications perform many features including: Change Detection is determining the changes from images taken at different times of the same area. Orthorectification is Warp an image to its location on the earth. Spectral Analysis is For example, using non-visible parts of the electromagnetic spectrum to determine if a forest is healthy. Image Classification is Categorization of pixels based on reflectance into different land cover classes (e.g. supervised classification, unsupervised classification and Object Oriented Classification)

 Climate Change

Scientific Federation is going to conduct a conference on Earth Science & Geo Science at Amsterdam, Netherlands on August 13-14, 2018. Climate Change is one of session where presentations can be done at Summit.

Climate change is refers to the rise in average surface temperatures on Earth. An overwhelming scientific consensus maintains that climate change is due primarily to the human use of fossil fuels, which releases carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases into the air. The gases trap heat within the atmosphere, which can have a range of effects on ecosystems, including rising sea levels, severe weather events, and droughts that render landscapes more susceptible to wildfires.
The primary cause of climate change is the burning of fossil fuels, such as oil and coal, which emits greenhouse gases into the atmosphere primarily carbon dioxide. Other human activities, such as agriculture and deforestation, also contribute to the proliferation of greenhouse gases that cause climate change.

Climate Change impacts are the consequences of climate change both expected and realised for natural and human systems. Climate impacts research is typically interdisciplinary and frequently involves the construction of climate impact models. Some key research themes include: ecology, water resources, agriculture, human heath, the economy and built infrastructure. There are many likely effects of climate change: positive and negative, economic and ecological, humanitarian and financial. And if you aggregate them all, the overall effect is positive today and likely to stay positive until around 2080. That was the conclusion of Professor Richard Tol of Sussex University after he reviewed 14 different studies of the effects of future climate trends. The greatest benefit from climate change comes not from temperature change but from carbon dioxide itself. It is not pollution, but the raw material from which plants make carbohydrates and thence proteins and fats.

Solutions to climate change is Imagine a world where energy was clean, safe, and secure. A world free of oil spills, coal pollution and risky nuclear power. A world where we did everything possible to prevent further climate change. The good news is this world lies within our reach, thanks to renewable energy. Greenpeace is working to accelerate the leap to a 100 percent renewable energy future the key to our security and well being.

On behalf of Scientific Federation we are delighted to welcome you all to the International Summit on Earth Science & Geo Science which is to be held during August 13-14, 2018 Amsterdam, Netherlands. Through our theme 'Stimulating and Analyzing the Changes of Earth & Climate'. The conference is one of our yearly activities which have a goal of providing a setting for professionals in the respective field and our clients to learn about latest issues about Earth. The conference will have important Earth and Geo experts around the world who will share the knowledge to the participants.

Geochemistry is a chemistry of the earth, is important because it defines bio-diversity and the well-being of organisms, including humans. It’s all about the understanding the distribution of chemical compounds in the earth and their changing concentrations as a consequence of their fate in the geochemical cycles. Magma rises to the surface and solidifies into minerals. Minerals weather and chemical compounds enter in the biosphere. The concentrations of chemical compounds define which life forms can thrive. Not enough or too much of some compounds in the bio-available phase decreases bio-diversity. For instance, if man has not enough of commodities like oil or ore, he uses geochemistry to localize them in order to prevent a decrease of his well-being. Should he however produce too much waste like carbon dioxide or toxic heavy metals, he needs to use Geochemistry to understand how to get them out of the bio-available phase and into minerals again. Only with geochemical technology, following the earth chemical processes while using minerals, one can manage the environment on the larger scale and longer term. Geochemical analysis is the process through which scientists discover and unravel the chemical compounds that make up the earth, its atmosphere, and its seas.

The realm of geochemistry extends beyond the Earth, encompassing the entire Solar System, and has made important contributions to the understanding of a number of processes including mantle convection, the formation of planets and the origins of granite and basalt. Geochemists study the composition, structure, processes, and other physical aspects of the Earth. They examine the distribution of chemical elements in rocks and minerals, as well as the movement of these elements into soil and water systems. There is a wealth of information buried in the liquids, gases, and mineral deposits of rock. The geochemist’s job is to understand this information and make informed decisions on a range of industrial and scientific research applications. Understanding the chemical composition of rocks tells oil companies where to drill for oil; enables scientists to put together broad-based theories about the way the Earth is changing helps environmental management companies decide how to dispose of a toxic or hazardous substance and  steers mining companies toward use of natural resources with a minimum environmental impact.

The greatest benefit of attending our conference is to build your network and increase your awareness of new trends happening in the area of Earth & Geo Sciences. This is the way to be invited to join collective research work by Earth Scientists.

Geology describes the structure of Earth beneath its surface, and the processes that have shaped that structure. It also provides tools to determine the relative and absolute ages of rocks found in a given location, and also to describe the histories of those rocks. By combining these tools, Geologists are able to chronicle the geological history of the Earth as a whole, and also to demonstrate the age of the Earth. Geology provides the primary evidence for plate tectonics, the evolutionary history of life, and the Earth's past climates. Geologists use a wide variety of methods to understand the Earth's structure and evolution, including fieldwork, rock description, geophysical techniques, chemical analysis and experiments. In practical terms, Geology is important for mineral and hydrocarbon exploration and exploitation, evaluating water resources, understanding of natural hazards, the remediation of environmental problems, and providing insights into past change. Many processes such as landslides, earthquakes, floods, and volcanic eruptions can be hazardous to people. Geologists work to understand these processes well enough to avoid building important structures where they might be damaged. If geologists can prepare maps of areas that have flooded in the past, they can prepare maps of areas that might be flooded in the future. These maps can be used to guide the development of communities and determine where flood protection or flood insurance is needed. Geology is a field-based, multi-disciplinary science that integrates the principles of chemistry, physics, biology and mathematics in the study of Earth processes and history. Geologists are increasingly in demand to study and evaluate geologic hazards and natural resources such as oil and gas..

The conference will have important Earth and Geo experts around the world who will share the knowledge to the participants.

Earth Science and Geo Science explores the interconnections between the land, ocean, atmosphere, and life of our planet. These include the cycles of water, carbon, rock, and other materials that continuously shape, influence, and sustain Earth and its inhabitants. The four major branches of Earth science are Geology, Meteorology, Oceanography, and Astronomy. Geology is the primary Earth science and deals with the composition of Earth materials, Earth structures, and Earth processes. Meteorology is the how climate changes over time in response to the actions of people is a topic of urgent worldwide concern. Oceanography is Earth's oceans their composition, movement, organisms and processes. The oceans also have a major influence on the weather, and changes in the oceans can drive or moderate climate change. Astronomy is the study of the universe. Astronomers can also use knowledge of Earth materials, processes and history to understand other planets even those outside of our own solar system. The Importance of Earth Science & Geo Science is today we live in a time when the Earth and its inhabitants face many challenges. Our climate is changing, and that change is being caused by human activity. Earth scientists recognized this problem and will play a key role in efforts to resolve it. We are also challenged to: develop new sources of energy that will have minimal impact on climate; locate new sources of metals and other mineral resources as known sources are depleted; and, determine how Earth's increasing population can live and avoid serious threats such as volcanic activity, earthquakes, landslides, floods and more. These are just a few of the problems where solutions depend upon a deep understanding of Earth science.

Geology or Geological Sciences is the study of the origin, evolution, structure and behavior of our planet Earth. This science mainly deals with the earth's composition, that is, its materials, processes, systems, resources and physical forces and also how they change over time. This global view extends to organisms, natural resources and environment that make up the Earth as well as exploring other planets and our solar system. Therefore geology can also be referred as Earth Science.

The main objective of the conference is to bring together leading academicians, scientists, researchers, graduate students from the field of Geosciences, geology, Meteorology, Volcanology, Atmospheric Science, Global Warming, Environmental Sciences, Remote Sensing and others whose interest is to promote earth science education at the school, college and university levels, and among the general public.
